A Message from Michigan PTSA Past President Sue Bellows

Thank you to those of you who were able to participate in Michigan PTSA’s Statewide Bake Sale for Public Education on December 2nd.

I ask that you continue to support our future endeavors that will draw attention to the dismal state of affairs that is our state budget and the flawed processes that plan it.  If enough of us talk about the many, excruciating, cuts that school districts around our state are having to absorb, then perhaps we can effect change in that process.

We must not sit idle while people whose paychecks are not getting cut, whose health benefits are not being touched and whose taxes are much less that the average homeowner make cut after cut to school funding.  We must continually be taking this fight to their very doorstep to let them know that we cannot bear more cuts that affect those who are least able to fight back, our students.

It is said that the world is run by those who show up. I am hoping that we can "show up" and let our legislators know we will not tolerate more of the budgetary buffoonery that has been status quo for so long.
